I think mandatory attendance is pretty stupid. Well, maybe in the long run it’ll be helpful, but SMU’s attendance policy is something that really sets them apart from the rest of the other universities in Texas. I don’t know what it is, but when I talk to my other friends who attend university it says attendance isn’t mandatory. Here however if you miss a class that potentially is at least one point off your grade, and eventually most people have to drop these classes because they’ve simply missed more than 5 classes in a semester. I really do understand why it is so enforced, but man I really do get sick a lot.
