Spain is a beautiful country. It has great people, amazing views, cool architecture, and okay food.
However, what is not great about Spain, is falling ill. I miss the moments when I could swallow freely without feeling any pain. All is lost now.
Fear not, for hope is not lost (just mildly misplaced). Here’s a whimsical remedy regimen to catapult you back to the land of the healthy:
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids such as water, herbal teas, and broths. Warm liquids can be especially soothing.
- Gargle with Salt Water: Dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and gargle several times a day to reduce inflammation and discomfort.
- Honey and Lemon: Mixing honey and lemon in warm water can soothe a sore throat. Honey has antibacterial properties, while lemon can provide a vitamin C boost.
- Throat Lozenges or Sprays: Over-the-counter throat lozenges or sprays can provide temporary relief by numbing the throat.
- Humidifier: Using a humidifier in your room can add moisture to the air, which can help soothe a dry, sore throat.
- Rest: Give your body time to heal by getting plenty of rest.
- Pain Relievers: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help reduce pain and inflammation.
- Avoid Irritants: Stay away from smoke, strong chemicals, and other irritants that can worsen your throat irritation.
